Royals release pitcher George Sherrill and outfielder Xavier Nady; option outfielder David Lough to Omaha

SURPRISE, AZ (March 25, 2013) -- The Kansas City Royals tonight released left-handed pitcher George Sherrill and outfielder Xavier Nady from their minor league contracts.  In addition, the Royals optioned outfielder David Lough to Triple-A Omaha.  Following the moves, the Royals have 34 active players in Major League camp, not counting right-handed pitcher Felipe Paulino who is currently on the 60-day Disabled List.
