Herrera allows first HR since '13 to end streak

KANSAS CITY -- Royals manager Ned Yost certainly was impressed with reliever Kelvin Herrera's amazing homerless streak that reached 105 1/3 innings before Cleveland's Lonnie Chisenhall homered to lead off the eighth in Tuesday's 5-3 victory.

That streak, by the way, is a Royals record for a reliever.

"What was more impressive to me is what he did after that," Yost said. "You know, about 106 innings ago, it would affect him, freak him out a little, giving up a homer.

"But tonight, he gives up the home run on the first pitch and then boom, he gets right back at it and gets out of the inning."

Herrera hadn't given up a homer since July 26, 2013 -- that was to Conor Gillaspie of the White Sox.

"It had to [end] sometime, right?" Herrera said. "I'll just start a new one."

Herrera shrugged off Chisenhall's blast, which came off a fastball.

"He was cheating," Herrera said. "He got what he was looking for."
