Getz heading to Triple-A next week for rehab stint

NEW YORK -- Second baseman Chris Getz, on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to last Sunday, will travel with the Royals to Kansas City on Sunday and join Triple-A Omaha next week.

"Being here, I can still work out with the team and stay as sharp as possible without playing games," Getz said.

His sprained left knee is making progress and the tentative plan is for him to get some at-bats with Omaha. He didn't join the Storm Chasers in Tacoma, Wash., but there's a chance he could catch up with them in Salt Lake City before they return to Omaha on Wednesday.
