Escobar participates in baseball activities

KANSAS CITY -- Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar, who is on the seven-day disabled list because of a concussion, was on the field prior to Wednesday's game against the Indians taking grounders and taking some batting practice.

It was the first time Escobar has initiated baseball activities since sustaining the concussion when he was hit in the helmet by a fastball from Cleveland's Danny Salazar last Wednesday.

"He looked good and seemed fine," manager Ned Yost said.

Escobar is eligible to come off the disabled list on Thursday.

"But he's got to pass some more tests first," Yost said.
