Escobar's hot bat continues to burn Brewers

KANSAS CITY -- Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar knew there would be plenty of memories returning to Milwaukee for the first time in the regular season since the team traded him in 2010, but neither side likely expected the havoc he would wreak in the home-and-home Interleague matchups.

Escobar went 8-for-18 in four games against the Brewers with four runs, a double, a triple and six RBIs, including a leadoff double in the Royals' 3-2 victory in the series finale on Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium.

"There were so many memories [with the Brewers] because that was my first team," Escobar said. "That team gave me my first opportunity to play baseball."

In seven games against his former team, Escobar is 11-for-28 with a double, two triples and eight RBIs.

But more important to Escobar is what the productive series did for both him and the rest of the offense. The Royals banged out 55 hits in scoring 28 runs in the series, recording 10 or more hits in each of the four games.

"Just trying to make adjustments at home plate, you know, see the ball better and swing the bat," Escobar said. "[Building] that momentum is great. The last two weeks ... the whole team was like .200, now it's coming back. Every guy in this room is playing good."

A little more encouraging for those unsure about Escobar occupying the leadoff spot, and not without merit, either. In his 10 games prior, Escobar recorded just as many hits and only one RBI.

But the bottom line for Escobar is simple.

"It's just good, man," he said. "Just want to keep playing like that and win games."
