Royals exercise options on Davis, Escobar
Club will make qualifying offer to Gordon; Gomes hits free agency
The Royals announced a bevy of roster moves on Thursday, exercising club options on right-hander Wade Davis and shortstop Alcides Escobar. Kansas City will also make a qualifying offer to outfielder Alex Gordon when free agency begins on Friday.
Financial terms were not disclosed by the club.
Gordon opted for free agency on Wednesday, turning down a $13.75 million player option for 2016, according to a source.
The Royals declined their option with outfielder Jonny Gomes, while reinstating left-handed pitchers Tim Collins, Brian Flynn and Jason Vargas from the 60-day disabled list.
