Ruf reaches on single, extends streak to 31

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies left fielder Darin Ruf singled in the second inning Saturday against the Braves to reach base safely in 31 consecutive games, dating to last season.

It was the longest active streak in the big leagues, and longest for the Phillies since Chase Utley reached base safely in 33 consecutive games from Sept. 7, 2008 to Apri, 22, 2009.

Ruf was batting .310 with a .402 on-base percentage and .992 OPS in the first 30 games of the streak. Fifteen of his 31 hits have been extra-base hits.
