Sandberg loses challenge on close play at first

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg lost a challenge in the ninth inning of Friday's 9-5 win over the D-backs at Citizens Bank Park.

With the Phillies leading, 9-4, pinch-hitter Tuffy Gosewisch legged out an infield single, but the play was close enough for Sandberg to call for a review.

Replay clearly showed Gosewisch getting to the bag before first baseman Darin Ruf.

Umpires confirmed the call in 35 seconds.
