Ryu unlikely to return when eligible on Tuesday

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu has not resumed throwing after being placed on the disabled list retroactive to May 28 with left shoulder blade inflammation.

Ryu is eligible to be activated on Tuesday, although that seems unlikely. The club has not announced it's probable starters for next week's series with the Marlins, but did decide to keep Zack Greinke on a five-day cycle even though his Monday start in Washington was cut short after three innings by rain.

With Josh Beckett, Paul Maholm, Greinke and Clayton Kershaw starting against the Giants through Sunday, the rotation would have Dan Haren, Beckett and Maholm face Miami.

Manager Don Mattingly said he received no injury report on Haren, who said after his Wednesday start in Washington that he pitched with back stiffness.

Mattingly said catcher A.J. Ellis, who is rehabbing at the club's Arizona complex, was scheduled to take seven at-bats in an extended spring training game. Ellis could return from knee surgery next week.

Chad Billingsley appeared to be throwing on flat ground with more velocity after his setback from Tommy John surgery.
