Salute to Armed Forces Day at Safeco Field

Seattle Mariners and Boeing Pay Tribute to Men and Women of the Military Sunday, April 19

The Seattle Mariners and The Boeing Company pay tribute to the men and women serving our nation in the military on Sunday, April 19, with the 14th Annual Boeing Salute to Armed Forces Day. Fifteen thousand fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative coin, courtesy of Boeing. Game time is 1:10 p.m. vs. the Texas Rangers. Good seats remain available.

Service persons from six branches of the military will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony and they will throw out simultaneous ceremonial first pitches:

Sgt. Sean Rowell, U.S. Army

Navy Counselor-Petty Officer First Class Sara Dozier, U.S. Navy

  • Airman 1st Class Tyler March, U.S. Air Force

Sgt. Sean Wicks, U.S. Marine Corps

  • Petty Officer 1st Class Ryan Olson, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Senior Airman Sandra Wiley, Washington National Guard

Taps will be performed pregame by Specialist Raymond Deleon, U.S. Army; the National Anthem will be performed by Navy Band Northwest; and the colors will be presented by the United States Joint Service Honor Guard. God Bless America will be performed at the 7th Inning Stretch by Staff Sgt. Ben Taylor, 62nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at McChord Field.

High-ranking officers from each of five branches of the military and the Washington National Guard will be presented with commemorative plaques. Receiving plaques will be:

  • Lieutenant General Stephen Lanza, Commanding General I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, accepting on behalf of Col. Stephen Myers, Chief of Staff, I Corps, U.S. Army
  • Major Sung Kim, Commanding Officer of Mariner Corps Recruiting Station Seattle, U.S. Marine Corps
  • U.S. Navy Region Chief of Staff Captain Bill Bulis, accepting on behalf of Rear Admiral Jeffrey Ruth, Commander Navy Region Northwest
  • Col. David Kumashiro, Commander, 62nd Airlift Wing & Air Force Senior Service Component Commander, U.S. Air Force
  • Rear Admiral Richard T. Gromlich, Commander of the Coast Guard 13th District, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Brigadier General Chris Fowler, Washington National Guard

Representatives of the U.S. Military branches as well as Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washington State Guard and Reserve, and U.S.O. will be introduced during the pregame ceremony and will deliver the line-up card and the game ball.

VFW & USO Benefit

Representatives of V.F.W. Post 2995 will be collecting donations outside the gates of Safeco Field to help provide care packages for troops serving overseas.

Fans in attendance will also have the chance to support the U.S.O. with a silent auction table near Section 128 on the Main Level. Items available for bid include autographed baseballs, game-used items and other memorabilia. Bidding will be open through the 6th Inning.

EQC Military Discount Nights

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners offer discount tickets for members of the U.S. Military, presented by EQC. Military personnel receive 10% off select Main, Terrace and View Level seats for all remaining home games. Military discounts are available at the Safeco Field box office and Mariners Team Stores.
