Salute to Armed Forces Night at Safeco Field

Seattle Mariners and Boeing pay tribute to men and women of the military Saturday, April 26

The Seattle Mariners and The Boeing Company pay tribute to the men and women serving our nation in the military on Saturday, April 26, with the 13th Annual Boeing Salute to Armed Forces Night. Fifteen thousand fans in attendance will receive a special commemorative coin, courtesy of Boeing. Game time is 6:10 p.m. vs. the Texas Rangers. Good seats remain available.

Service persons from six branches of the military will be honored in a special pre-game ceremony and they will throw out simultaneous ceremonial first pitches:

  • Staff Sergeant Rodney Greenway, U.S. Army
  • Master at Arms 1st Class Joseph Reyes, U.S. Navy
  • Major Marc Miller, U.S. Air Force Reserve
  • Sergeant Ariel Hargave, U.S. Marine Corps
  • Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Jason Gale, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Staff Sergeant Jason Fox, Washington National Guard

Taps will be performed pregame by Specialist Raymond Deleon, U.S. Army, the National Anthem will be performed by I Corps Army Band from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and the colors will be presented by the United States Joint Service Honor Guard. God Bless America will be performed at the 7th Inning Stretch by Technical Sergeant Alfredo "Freddie" Garza, U.S. Air Force Reserve.

High-ranking officers from each of five branches of the military and the Washington National Guard will be presented with commemorative plaques. Receiving plaques will be:

  • Lt. General Stephen Lanza, U.S. Army
  • Major General David Berger, U.S. Marine Corps
  • Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar, U.S. Navy
  • Colonel William Krueger, U.S. Air Force
  • Captain Matthew Miller, U.S. Coast Guard
  • Colonel Jeremy Horn, Washington National Guard (on behalf of Brigadier General John Tuohy)

Representatives of the U.S. Military branches as well as Disable American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans of America, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Washington State Guard and Reserve, and U.S.O. will be introduced during the pregame ceremony and will handle the honorary duties of delivering the line-up card and the honorary game ball.

VFW & USO Benefit

Representatives of V.F.W. Post 2995 will be collecting donations outside the gates of Safeco Field to help provide care packages for troops serving overseas.

Fans in attendance will also have the chance to support the U.S.O. with three silent auction tables near Section 128 on the Main Concourse, the Terrace Club and the View Level (300 Level). Items available for bid include autographed baseballs, game-used items and other memorabilia. The items will be available for bid through the 6th Inning.

EQC Military Discount Nights

Once again this season, the Seattle Mariners offer discount tickets for members of the U.S. Military, presented by EQC. Military personnel receive 10% off select Main, Terrace and View Level seats for all home games. Military discounts are available at the Safeco Field box office and Mariners Team Stores.

Tickets for Saturday's game, and all other games on the Mariners 2014 home schedule, are available at mariners.com/tickets. They can also be purchased with no service charge at Seattle Mariners Team Stores (Bellevue Square, Southcenter Mall, Alderwood Mall, and at 4th and Stewart in downtown Seattle) and the Safeco Field box office.
