Rain forces Thursday doubleheader for Padres, Reds

Wednesday's starter Kennedy to start Game 1; Ross gets the nod for nightcap

CINCINNATI -- The second game of the Padres' three-game series against the Reds in Cincinnati Wednesday night was postponed due to rain after a 30-minute delay at Great American Ball Park.

There will be a doubleheader Thursday.

The originally scheduled 9:35 a.m. PT game for Thursday will be played as scheduled. The makeup game is slated to begin at 3:10 p.m.

Fans holding tickets for Wednesday's game may use their same ticket for the rescheduled game Thursday night with no exchange necessary.

Right-hander Ian Kennedy, who was scheduled to start Wednesday's game for San Diego, will start the first game Thursday, and right-hander Tyson Ross, who was originally scheduled to start Thursday, will take the mound for the nightcap.

The Reds will have Johnny Cueto, who was slated for the postponed Wednesday game, start the early game on Thursday, and have not yet determined who will start the nightcap.

Both teams will be allowed to add a 26th man to their rosters for the second game of the doubleheader.
