Schumaker passes concussion test, awaits clearance

NEW YORK -- Reds outfielder/second baseman Skip Schumaker took another try at the concussion test on Saturday morning. This time, he passed.

Now, the Reds and Schumaker have to wait for a green light from Major League Baseball and the Players Association before he can be activated from the seven-day concussion disabled list.

"He did very well on two different tests," Reds head trainer Paul Lessard said. "The tests have been submitted. We haven't gotten clearance yet from the league. They look it over and send the message."

Schumaker slammed hard into the right-field wall trying to make a catch vs. the Cubs on July 10 in Cincinnati.

After he worked out at Great American Ball Park during the All-Star break, Schumaker did not pass his tests on Thursday. He was eligible but not ready for activation on Friday, but felt better on Saturday.

"Today he told me, 'Come on, let's do this test. I'm ready to go.' I was kind of waiting for that before I tested him again," Lessard said.
