Gennett to begin rehab assignment Friday
Second baseman scheduled to return to Brewers for Tuesday's game
CINCINNATI -- Injured Brewers second baseman Scooter Gennett had stitches removed from his injured left hand Wednesday and will begin a Minor League rehabilitation assignment Friday, Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said.
Gennett will play four games with the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Roenicke said. He is then scheduled to be activated from the 15-day disabled list for Tuesday's home game against the Dodgers.
On April 20, Gennett suffered a laceration near the middle finger of his left hand that required five stitches to close. He was reaching for body wash when he cut his hand on a shower caddie.
The 24-year-old was able to take full batting practice Tuesday. The Timber Rattlers are scheduled to begin a six-game homestand on Friday against Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.
