Seattle Mariners agree to terms with 8th round draft pick Tyler Smith

Mariners have signed 31 of 40 selections from the June Draft.

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Director of Amateur Scouting Tom McNamara announced today the club has agreed to terms an additional selection from the 2013 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft.
                                                              
Signing today was eighth-round pick, shortstop Tyler Smith from Oregon State University. Smith just returned from the College World Series where Oregon State was one of the final four teams.

Seattle has now signed 31 of the team's 40 picks from the June Amateur Draft, including each of its first 20 picks.

Smith will report to the Pulaski Mariners next week.

Smith, a senior, played in 56 games this season, starting 53. He hit .308 (69x224) with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 28 RBI. He also stole 9 bases in 11 attempts.

The Mariners have until Friday, July 12 at 2 p.m. (PT) to sign players selected in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
