Olson placed on 15-day DL; option rescinded
SEATTLE -- Mariners reliever Tyler Olson was recently optioned to Triple-A Tacoma, but that move has been rescinded, and Olson has been placed on the Major League 15-day disabled list.
Olson, who made the club out of Spring Training as a left-hander in the bullpen, was pitching in the Mariners' 11-4 loss to the Astros in Houston on May 2 and sustained a right knee contusion when sliding to cover first base on a Jake Marisnick infield single leading off the bottom of the fifth inning.
Olson went on to finish that inning and two more, but he will go on the DL retroactive to May 3 and will be eligible to return on May 18.
