• Fort Wayne infielder Fernando Perez has been named the Player of the Week in the Midwest League. The 20-year-old hit .458 last week for the TinCaps with three doubles, a home run and nine RBIs. Perez is from Otay Ranch High in Chula Vista, which is south of San Diego. He's a native of Ensenada, Mexico.
