• Francona said outfielder Michael Bourn, who is expected to play back-to-back nine-inning games Thursday and Friday during his rehab assignment with Double-A Akron, is unlikely to join the team until Tuesday at the earliest for the Indians' series at Detroit. Bourn is eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday.

"I wouldn't be surprised if it's Tuesday," Francona said.

• The Indians' pitching staff surrendered just eight runs in the three-game series against San Diego, registering a 1.67 ERA and .245 average against.
