Snake bites

• Didi Gregorius is scheduled to make his D-backs debut on Thursday against the Brewers. Gregorius will be limited to DH duty as he is still being brought along slowly after he experienced elbow discomfort in December.

Gregorius has been playing catch from 60 feet over the past week and could be ready for the start of the Triple-A season.

"It's going great," D-backs manager Kirk Gibson said of Gregorius' progress. "At the same time, we're going to stay on the program. It's the right thing to do. He's exactly on schedule. He's had no setbacks along the way."

• Patrick Corbin suffered through his first poor outing of the spring. The left-hander, who is competing with Tyler Skaggs and Randall Delgado for the No. 5 spot in the rotation, allowed four runs in one inning of work against the Royals after not giving up a run in his first two appearances covering five innings.

All of the runs came on Alex Gordon's grand slam.

• Archie Bradley, one of the D-backs two first-round Draft picks in 2011, seventh overall, allowed one run on two hits in one inning on Wednesday. It was the right-hander's first-ever appearance in a big league game.

"It was exciting," Bradley said. "Obviously the adrenaline was flowing and I was a little nervous."
