Source: Blevins wins arbitration case with Nationals

WASHINGTON -- Left-hander Jerry Blevins won his arbitration case with the Nationals, a baseball source told MLB.com. He will get $2.4 million, after the team had filed for $2.2 million.

When he was acquired by the Nationals last offseason in a trade that sent outfielder Billy Burns to the Athletics, Blevins was supposed to have the ability to get hitters from both sides of the plate out, but right-handed hitters had a .298 batting average against him in 2014. It looked like Blevins wasn't going to make the Nats' postseason roster, but in his final five games, he didn't allow a run and struck out 11 in 5 1/3 innings.

Blevins is expected to pitch in the late innings for Washington this season.
