Special pregame tribute to honor fallen firefighters

Members of the Kansas City, Mo. Fire Department Will Take the Field before ALDS Game 5; Royals Charities to Donate 50/50 Raffle Proceeds

In the wake of the tragic events on Monday and the loss of two Kansas City, Mo. firefighters, the Royals will honor their memory in a special pregame tribute before Game 5 of the American League Division Series, set to begin at 7:07 p.m. KCFD firefighters will take the field in support of the two fallen heroes in a moment of silence before the game.

"On Tuesday, the Commissioner's Office of Major League Baseball gave us permission to have select players and manager Ned Yost wear official KCFD caps and shirts to honor the fallen firefighters," said Toby Cook, Royals' Vice President of Community Affairs and Publicity. "Major League Baseball rules prohibit the wearing of altered uniforms on the field on game days and we will adhere to that policy."

Royals Charities will also be donating net proceeds from the 50/50 Raffle to the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE), administered by the Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, as well as IAFF Local 42.
