Cards' Minor Leaguer Medina suspended 50 games

St. Louis Cardinals Minor League pitcher Yeison Medina has been suspended 50 games without pay following a positive test for the stimulant heptaminol, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday.

Taking heptaminol is a violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Medina's suspension will begin at the start of the 2015 season.

Medina, 21, went 4-1 with a 1.64 ERA this year in 19 games at the rookie level with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals.
