Left fielder robs HR in 1st, All-Star CF throws runner out at home in 2nd vs. Rays
BALTIMORE -- The Orioles snapped a six-game losing streak with Wednesday's 7-6 walk-off win over the Rays. And they put on a defensive show early on.
Baltimore's Steve Pearce robbed Rays outfielder Brandon Guyer of a first-inning home run, executing a perfectly-timed leaping catch over the left-field wall. The sensational play saved O's righty Kevin Gausman a run and was just the second out of the game.
As the ball sailed out toward the left-field seats at Camden Yards, Pearce never lost track of the ball, jumping up at the last second to snatch Guyer's would-be homer before it could reach the seats.

"It was awesome," Gausman said of watching the play on the mound. "His route efficiency wasn't the highest, but it's awesome have him back. He's a great guy, a great clubhouse guy and we all like having him around. I just think we weren't going to lose today. I think that was the thing."
In the second inning, Orioles center fielder Adam Jones threw Logan Forsythe out at home attempting to score on a single by Kevin Kiermaier which kept the game scoreless.
