Myers rests sore left wrist as precaution
TORONTO -- Wil Myers was not in the Rays' starting lineup Sunday afternoon against the Blue Jays due to a sore left wrist.
Myers said he initially hurt his wrist while making a slide in the Minnesota series prior to the All-Star break.
"It wasn't too bad. I could play through it, just yesterday kind of flared up a little more than I would like," Myers said. "Just precaution right now."
Manager Joe Maddon said he believes Myers' wrist "is a day-to-day thing."
"I actually believe he's going to play tomorrow," Maddon said. "He went out and took some swings and just felt a little sore on the finish. He might be able to pinch-hit today, also. But again, I don't think it's anything bad, just a day kind of thing."
When asked if he would play Monday, Myers assured reporters he could when he answered, "Yeah, yeah."
Myers entered Sunday's action hitting .310 with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
