Escobar exits in 10th due to tight left quad
Shortstop injured while running to first after hitting into a fielder's choice
BOSTON -- Yunel Escobar exited Friday night's 3-2 loss against the Red Sox with a tight left quad after hitting into a fielder's choice in the 10th inning.
Escobar grounded to shortstop with Wil Myers on first. The Red Sox got the force at second, but Escobar beat out the throw to first.
After he was called safe, Escobar lingered in foul territory until a trainer and Rays manager Joe Maddon joined him. Minutes later, the shortstop limped across the field to the dugout.
