Tejada's tight calf to be reevaluated Sunday

KANSAS CITY -- Royals second baseman Miguel Tejada left Saturday night's 5-3 loss in the seventh inning with tightness in his right calf after diving for a single by Red Sox left fielder Mike Carp.

"When he dove for that ball, his right calf got real, real tight so we're evaluating it," manager Ned Yost said.

Tejada sat up and tried to stretch out his leg before Yost and trainers came out to check on him. He walked off under his own power and was replaced by Elliot Johnson. Tejada was wearing a compression sleeve on his calf after the game.

"They are going to wait till tomorrow to evaluate me and see what's going on," Tejada said. "Right now, I'm feeling it pull."

Tejada was 1-for-3, including an RBI single in a three-run fifth before leaving the game. He was batting .288 overall and .305 (18-for-59) since the All-Star break.
