Bogar on D-backs' radar for managerial job
ANAHEIM -- The D-backs have asked for permission to interview Rangers interim manager Tim Bogar for their managerial opening.
D-backs president Tony La Russa and general manager Dave Stewart could interview 11 or more candidates for their opening to replace Kirk Gibson.
Bogar remains a strong candidate for the Rangers' skipper opening and he said that's the only job he is focusing on right now. The Rangers were 14-8 under him after he replaced Ron Washington, who resigned on Sept. 5.
General manager Jon Daniels interviewed pitching coach Mike Maddux and Triple-A manager Steve Buechele this week with Bogar soon to follow.
The club has not yet announced any outside candidates who will be interviewed, but the Rangers are believed to be interested in Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo. Daniels admitted earlier this week that the Rangers could face competition for their own internal candidates, but would still conduct a thorough search for the right manager.
