Moreland resumes activities following surgery
Rangers first baseman plays catch, takes swings off a batting tee
HOUSTON -- Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland was able to play catch at 75 feet and take 25 swings off a batting tee on Tuesday, less than a week after undergoing surgery to have a bone chip removed from his left elbow.
Moreland is eligible to come off the disabled list next Wednesday and there is a good possibility that could happen. The Rangers will want him to play at least a couple of games on a rehabilitation assignment in the Minor Leagues, but that could happen later this week or early next week.
"I felt great," Moreland said. "I felt like this would be quick. I feel like I'm where I want to be and can start getting ready for a game. I missed a lot of time last year [due to left ankle surgery] and I want to be out there. I didn't want to go down, that's why I tried to fight through it."
