Texas Rangers to hold open tryout at Dell Diamond

August 20 camp open to non-drafted, non-contracted players

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers, through the local support of its Triple-A affiliate Round Rock Express, will conduct an open tryout camp for prospective professional baseball players to be held Tuesday, August 20, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Non-drafted, non-contracted individuals between the ages of 16 and 25 are eligible to participate in the one-day tryout. Position players are to report at 8 a.m. and pitchers at noon. The public is invited to attend.

Members of the Rangers scouting department will be present at the tryout to evaluate participants based upon Major League standards. Overall skills tests such as 60-yard dash, agility, hitting ability and arm strength from shortstop, outfield, catcher and pitcher positions will be administered. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and should come dressed in baseball attire. Baseballs will be furnished.

All interested individuals are directed to pre-register online. There is a $10 fee to register which includes an official tryout t-shirt. American Legion players must provide a letter from their coach or post commander granting permission to attend the tryout camp. All entrants must sign an injury waiver to participate.
