Texas Rangers to play in Wild Card Game on Friday

Arlington, Texas –With Wednesday’s loss to the Oakland A’s, the Texas Rangers will be one of two Wild Card teams in the 2012 American League playoffs.
The Rangers will participate in a one-game Wild Card Playoff on Friday, October 5. The possible scenarios for that game are as follows:
If the New York Yankees defeat Boston and the Baltimore Orioles lose at Tampa Bay tonight OR both the Yankees and Orioles lose on Wednesday night, the Rangers will HOST THE ORIOLES ON FRIDAY at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington at 7:37 p.m. CT. Texas would host the Wild Card Game since it won the season series against Baltimore, 5-2.
Individual tickets for a potential Wild Card Game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington can now be purchased online at texasrangers.com/postseason. Fans can choose Print at Home or Mobile Ticket Delivery to expedite receiving their tickets. If the Orioles lose tonight, the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington West Box Office will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. In any other scenarios, the Rangers will play a Wild Card Game on the road on Friday at 7:37 p.m. CT.
If the Yankees and Orioles both win on Wednesday, the Rangers would travel to Baltimore to play the Orioles in the Wild Game on Friday.
If the Orioles win and the Yankees lose on Wednesday, Baltimore would then host New York in a tiebreak game on Thursday to determine the A.L. East Champion. Since the Yankees and Orioles tied, 9-9, in the season series, Baltimore would host the game due to a better intradivision record. If the Yankees win the tiebreak, then the Orioles would host the Rangers in the Wild Card Game on Friday. If the Orioles win the tiebreak, then the Yankees would host the Rangers in the Wild Card Game on Friday.
