Third to first

• Ventura had no update on reliever Ronald Belisario and his ongoing visa issue in Venezuela. The White Sox manager expects everyone else to be in camp by Thursday, when the full squad reports, with Avisail Garcia, Jeff Keppinger, Conor Gillaspie, Beckham, Eaton and Jose Abreu among the numerous position players already in attendance.

Jordan Danks and his wife, Ashley, welcomed a healthy baby boy named Cooper this past October. The outfielder quipped that his first child was not named after White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper.

• Much focus during Beckham's first interview session Tuesday was placed upon the beard he grew in the offseason and that he might lose his unofficial best hair title to Matt Davidson. Beckham played along with the questions, calling it a standoff between him and Davidson hair-wise, before smiling and asking, "Do we have any real questions?"

• Thursday marks the official start of Paul Konerko's 16th and final season with the White Sox. It's a season the classy captain deserves, according to Beckham, as opposed to going out on last year's 99-loss debacle.

"He deserves it. I think baseball deserves it," said Beckham. "He would never say that but I think he needs a little bit of a victory lap.

"I feel like he is one of the most unsung guys in the big leagues for as good as he is. I think he deserves at least to be recognized throughout the year. He doesn't want that but as his friend and a guy that respects what he has done, he deserves that."
