Frazier, Cozart in top 5 in All-Star voting

CINCINNATI -- Despite starting to play better ball this past week, a few of the Reds fell out of the top five in their respective positions in this week's second round of the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot fan voting.

Third baseman Todd Frazier and shortstop Zack Cozart both remained in the top five of their respective positions, while first baseman Joey Votto and second baseman Brandon Phillips both dropped out.

Frazier remains the highest ranked Redleg, sitting in third place for the starting National League third baseman selection. Frazier now has 636,177 votes, which puts him behind the Cubs' Kris Bryant with 1,079,693 votes and the Cardinals' Matt Carpenter with 1,974,503 votes.

Frazier was swinging a hot bat last week, earning National League Player of the Week. He had an NL-leading .500 batting average (11-for-22) last week and knocked four out of the park to give him 16 home runs on the season, which ranks third in the Majors.

Cozart dropped one spot to fifth place in the NL shortstop category with 535,921 votes. The Cardinals' Jhonny Peralta leads all shortstops with 1,279,711 votes thus far.

Phillips ranked fourth a week ago for NL second baseman, but he only started three of the Reds' six games last week because of turf toe on his left foot. Phillips was replaced by the Nationals' Yunel Escobar in the top five of second baseman this week.

Votto ranked fifth in last week's fan voting update, and he was replaced by Brandon Belt of the Giants in this week's top five.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- using the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For the first time, voting is exclusively online, where fans may submit up to 35 ballots.
