Murphy among Rox prospects headed for AFL

Catcher to be joined by Carasiti, Estevez, Moll, Patterson on Rafters

DENVER -- Catcher Tom Murphy, the Rockies' third-round pick in the 2012 Draft and the No. 12 prospect in the organization, will headline the crop of Colorado farmhands heading to the Arizona Fall League in Scottsdale, Ariz., this offseason.

Murphy, along with pitchers Matt Carasiti, Carlos Estevez and Sam Moll, as well as infielder Jordan Patterson, will represent Colorado on the Salt River Rafters. The Rockies have two open slots that will be announced later -- one pitcher and one outfielder.

Murphy has spent time with both Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Albuquerque this season, hitting .259 with 20 homers and 62 RBIs through 99 games. He spent most of July playing for the U.S. Pan American team and joined the Isotopes on July 23.

Carasiti, a right-hander, has spent the entire season with Class A Advanced Modesto, while the right-handed Estevez, left-handed Moll and Patterson have split time between Modesto and New Britain.
