Towers to undergo vocal cord procedure in July

PHOENIX -- D-backs general manager Kevin Towers will undergo surgery to repair his right vocal cord on July 7 in New York.

Towers first had trouble with his vocal cord last year just prior to last year's First-Year Player Draft in June.

The condition improved a bit, but then this spring he once again began experiencing problems with his voice.

Towers will have his right vocal cord replaced by one from a cadaver.
