Herrera, d'Arnaud make progress in rehabs

PHOENIX -- Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud and second baseman Dilson Herrera both took significant steps forward in their recoveries from broken fingers on Thursday, playing five innings apiece for Class A St. Lucie.

D'Arnaud, who began a rehab assignment late last month only to suffer a setback and cut it short, finished 1-for-2 with a walk. He has been on the disabled list since April 20 with a fractured right pinkie, batting .317 with two homers in 11 games at the time of his injury.

Herrera, who started his rehab assignment fresh, went 1-for-3 with a double. Once the youngest player in the big leagues this season, he was batting .235 with one home run in 10 games prior to fracturing his right middle finger on May 14.

The Mets hope both players can rejoin them by the middle of June.
