Tulo extends streak, needs Final Vote boost

Rockies shortstop falls to fourth place in last hours of balloting

DENVER -- Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki's drop from second to third in Thursday's update of the 2015 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote prompted the Rockies to take to Twitter to round up support for their star.

Tulowitzki extended his hitting streak to 21 games and on-base streak to 36 games with a fourth-inning single in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Braves. He also had a sacrifice fly in the second inning. But he fell to fourth place in Friday's update.

Tulowitzki lost his running mate on Thursday when Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, originally an American League Final Vote candidate, was added to the AL squad because of an injury.

Here is the voting information, with the last votes being cast Friday:

• Fans can vote online now at Rockies.com/FinalVote or simply by texting N5 to 89269. Voting is unlimited during The Final Vote. The Rockies encourage the text-to-vote for its speed and ease in casting multiple votes.

• On Friday, until 2 p.m. MT, voting will be expanded to Twitter. Every use of #Tulo will count as one official vote for Tulowitzki, That means each tweet using the #Tulo hashtag during this time will count as a vote during this time. :: All-Star Game on FOX: Tuesday, Coverage begins 7 ET ::

Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez has passed both Tulowitzki and the Reds' Johnny Cueto in the past two days, and Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw has moved up to third place. Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia trails all of them.

So the Rockies rekindled last year's #ClevelandRox campaign. Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau and Indians pitcher Corey Kluber marshaled their forces; Kluber was chosen, but Morneau was surpassed late in the voting by the Cubs' Anthony Rizzo. This time, the Indians are trying to push Tulowitzki over the top.

Tweet from @Indians: After careful consideration, we have chosen the @Rockies as our NL allegiance! #ClevelandRox cannot be broken!

Rays infielder Evan Longoria, a teammate of Tulowitzki at Long Beach State during their collegiate days, threw his support behind his friend.

Tweet from @Rockies: Thanks, @Evan3Longoria. @LBDirtbags stick together! #Tulo TEXT N5 to 89269: http://t.co/fD6QmXdTgP https://t.co/uHrvLQt4sx

The Rockies are already represented on the National League squad by second baseman DJ LeMahieu and third baseman Nolan Arenado, who were chosen via peer voting.

During his press conference before the Rockies' game against the Braves, Rockies manager Walt Weiss said it was, "Cincinnati or bust."

Tweet from @Rockies: #Tulo when you see it, vote. Text N5 to 89269: http://t.co/fD6QmXdTgP pic.twitter.com/fXvpK0s9AY

And Arenado lent his face and his voice.

Tweet from @Rockies: Less than 24 hours left to vote for #Tulo. Do as Nolan says. TEXT N5 to 89269: http://t.co/fD6QmXvuFp https://t.co/mLHyDC7cPD

And, after all the campaigning, the voting doesn't stop there.
