Turner's right hamstring not ready for game action

PHILADELPHIA -- Justin Turner may have had a bat in his hand on Thursday in the ninth inning of a 2-1 loss to San Francisco, but he wasn't going to pinch-hit. According to Mets manager Terry Collins, the training staff doesn't think the 28-year-old's right hamstring pull has recovered enough for game action.

"He's getting better," Collins said. "As I told you yesterday, I went to the trainers and asked if he could hit, and they didn't think he should. I just ran him out there to see what would happen. He hasn't run 100 percent yet. It may be a few more days.

"The medical staff has a better read on it then I do, probably even better than Justin has. What you didn't want was a bouncing ball to the hole and he can't beat it out."
