Twins Name Steil Director of Minor League Operations, Training Staff Se

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have named Brad Steil the Director of Minor League Operations, Dave Pruemer the Head Athletic Trainer, Tony Leo the Assistant Athletic Trainer and Lanning Tucker the Assistant Athletic Trainer and Rehabilitation Coordinator.

Steil has spent 12 years in the Twins organization, the last five as Director of Baseball Operations.  He was responsible for establishing and overseeing the budget for the minor league, major league and scouting departments.  He also acted as the liaison between the technology and baseball departments in regard to the club’s computer scouting and evaluation programs.  He also assisted in player evaluation throughout the Twins system and monitored the working relationship among the club and its six affiliates.

Steil was hired as the Administrative Assistant for Scouting in 2001 and was promoted to Baseball Operations Assistant in July of 2003.  He was named Assistant Director of Baseball Operations in January of 2006 and served in that capacity until being promoted to Director of Baseball Operations in 2007. The Litchfield, MN native graduated magna cum laude from Concordia College in 1999. He also attended the St. Thomas Graduate School of Business.

Pruemer, who has spent 18 seasons in the Twins organization, will serve as the Twins Head Athletic Trainer in 2013 after spending the last eight seasons as the assistant athletic trainer.  Pruemer attended the University of Southern Illinois where he received his B.S. in Athletic Training.

A native of Teutopolis, IL, he began his career in 1995 with the Twins organization and served as trainer for the Rookie-Level club in Elizabethton, TN.  After one year at Elizabethton, Pruemer was promoted to Single-A Ft. Myers, where he spent the 1996 and 1997 seasons.  He was the trainer for Double-A New Britain from 1998-2001 and was named the Eastern League Trainer of the Year in 2000.  Selected by Major League Baseball to work the Arizona Fall League in 2001 and 2003, Pruemer also served as the Twins Triple-A trainer from 2002-04.  He was named International League Trainer of the Year in 2004.

Leo, who has spent 15 seasons with the Twins organization, will serve as the Twins Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2013 after spending the last three seasons as the assistant athletic trainer and Rehabilitation Coordinator.  Leo attended Bowling Green State University where he received his B.S in Sports Management with an Athletic Training emphasis.

A native of Salem, OH, he began his career in 1997 with the GCL Twins.  Leo was hired full time in 1998 and served as the trainer for the Elizabethton Twins. He was promoted to Single-A Quad Cities, where he spent the 2000 and 2001 seasons.  Leo was the trainer for Double-A New Britain from 2002-2004 and was named the 2003 Eastern League All-Star trainer.  In 2005, Leo was promoted to Triple-A Rochester and was selected by MLB to work the Arizona Fall League.  He served as the Triple-A trainer from 2005-2010.  In his new position, Leo will travel with the team and assist head trainer Dave Pruemer in all areas of athletic treatment.

Tucker, who has spent 21 seasons with the Twins organization, will serve as the Twins Assistant Athletic Trainer and Rehabilitation Coordinator in 2013. After earning his Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine from United States Sports Academy, he spent time training at several professional levels, including Elizabethton (‘92-93), Ft. Myers (‘94-95, ‘98) and New Britain (’96-97).  Tucker has been head minor league trainer and rehab coordinator for Twins since 1999, coordinating rehab programs for all minor league players in the organization. Tucker will assist the major league club at all home games and supervise the rehab programs of its major league players.
