Prospect Berrios fans seven in five scoreless

Right-hander Jose Berrios, the Twins' No. 5 prospect, struck out seven batters in five scoreless innings Wednesday as Class A Advanced Fort Myers defeated Jupiter, 6-4.

It was the first scoreless outing of the season for Berrios, who is ranked No. 83 on MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list. He allowed one hit and walked four batters.

Berrios won't turn 20 for another three weeks and was the second-youngest player in the Florida State League on Opening Day. Despite his age, he has fared well so far this season. In 30 innings, he has a 3.30 ERA and has struck out 27 batters and walked 11.

Outfielder Byron Buxton, ranked No. 1 overall by MLB.com, went 1-for-5 and scored a run Wednesday. He was playing in just his fourth game of the season after starting the season on the disabled list with a sprained left wrist he suffered during Spring Training. He is 2-for-15 since being activated Sunday.
