Ramirez to begin rehab assignment this week

MINNEAPOLIS -- Outfielder Wilkin Ramirez, on the 7-day concussion disabled list since May 26, left for Fort Myers, Fla., on Sunday and is expected to officially begin a rehab assignment this week.

Ramirez is scheduled to work out in Fort Myers in the minicamp held for recent Draftees now that extended Spring Training is over. If all goes well, Ramirez will go on a rehab assignment with Class A Advanced Fort Myers this week.

"Once we deem him ready, we'll shift him across the street with the Miracle on an official rehab," Twins general manager Terry Ryan said. "So he's about ready to go full-bore here, so we'll get him going down there in Florida and get him in some games."

Ramirez suffered the concussion while running into left fielder Josh Willingham while trying to catch a fly ball on May 25 in Detroit.
