Twins set to start 2015 facing division foes
Schedule unveiled Monday shows Minnesota facing AL Central rivals in first 15 games
MINNEAPOLIS -- The Twins are set to open the 2015 campaign on the road for the fifth time in six years, according to next season's schedule, which was released Monday.
The Twins' 55th season in Minnesota will begin with a three-game series in Detroit against the Tigers starting on April 6, with an off-day on April 7. The Twins then head to Chicago to take on the White Sox for a three-game set at U.S. Cellular Field.
The home opener at Target Field will be April 13 against the Royals, with an off-day the next day. It starts a six-game homestand for Minnesota against Kansas City and Cleveland. The Twins open with 15 straight games against American League Central foes, and 22 of their first 25 games come against teams within the division.
Minnesota is also set to face the National League Central in Interleague Play next year, with 15 of its 20 Interleague games coming in June.
The Twins host the Brewers from June 5-7, the Cardinals from June 17-18, the Cubs from June 19-21 and the Pirates from July 28-29. Additionally, Minnesota is slated to visit Pittsburgh from May 19-20, St. Louis from June 15-16, Milwaukee from June 26-28 and Cincinnati from June 29-July 1.
The Twins finish the first half with a seven-game homestand against the Orioles and Tigers before the Reds host the All-Star Game at Great American Ball Park on July 14. Minnesota will start the second half on the road with a six-game trip against the A's and Angels. Other home highlights include a three-game series against the Red Sox, starting on Memorial Day, from May 25-27 and a weekend series against the Yankees from July 24-26.
The schedule features 10 home games in April, 16 in May, 14 in June, 14 in July, 11 in August, 13 in September and three in October. The Twins will also play their AL Central rivals 19 times each, with three series at home and three series on the road against all four teams in the division.
All Saturday and road game times, as well as related broadcast information, will be announced at a later date.
