Twins Sign Brian Dozier to a Four-Year Contract

Ft. Myers, FL - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have signed second baseman Brian Dozier to a four-year, $20 million dollar contract, covering the 2015-2018 seasons. Dozier, who was already under contract for the 2015 season, will now earn $2 million in 2015, $3 million in 2016, $6 million in 2017 and $9 million in 2018.

Dozier, 27, hit .242 (145-for-598) with 23 home runs, 33 doubles, 71 RBI, 89 walks, 21 stolen bases and 112 runs scored in 2014. He became just the third Twins player to hit at least 20 home runs, steal at least 20 bases and score at least 100 runs in a single season, joining Kirby Puckett (1986) and Corey Koskie (2001). In 2014, he was selected to participate in the Gillette Home Run Derby at Target Field, was given the Twins Heart and Hustle award by the MLB Players Alumni Association and was named the Jim Kaat Award winner for Twins Defensive Player of the Year by the Twin Cities Chapter of the BBWAA.

The Mississippi native was the only player in baseball last year, and first player in Twins history, with over 100 runs, 30 doubles, 20 home runs, 80 walks and 20 stolen bases.

Twins Executive Vice President, General Manager Terry Ryan; Vice President, Assistant General Manager Rob Antony; Brian Dozier and his agent Damon Lapa will all be available at CenturyLink Sports Complex in the Press Dining Room at Hammond Stadium at 9:30 am (ET).
