Twins to Recall Alex Meyer

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they will recall right-handed pitcher Alex Meyer from Triple-A Rochester prior to Friday night's game at Milwaukee. Meyer, who will be looking to make his major league debut, went 3-3 with a 5.11 ERA (56.1 IP, 32 ER), 30 walks and 61 strikeouts in 17 games (8 starts) for the Red Wings. Since being converted to a reliever in late May, he has made nine appearances, posting a 0.53 ERA (17.0 IP, 1 ER), with six walks and 20 strikeouts.

The 25-year-old was ranked as the Twins fifth best prospect by Baseball America and the 29th best prospect in baseball by MLB.com entering 2015. The Greensburg, Indiana native was acquired by the Twins in November of 2012 from Washington, in exchange for outfielder Denard Span. He pitched in the SiriusXM Futures Game for the U.S. Team at Target Field last season. Meyer will wear uniform number 51.
