Twins 'Tribute for Heroes' finalists announced

MINNEAPOLIS -- Major League Baseball and 'People' magazine announced the 90 finalists for the "Tribute for Heroes" campaign with three candidates representing the Minnesota Twins.

The campaign is a national initiative that recognizes veterans and military service members, and builds upon MLB and 'People' magazine's commitment to honoring our country's heroes. One winner from each of the 30 teams will be included in All-Star Week festivities and recognized during the pre-game ceremony leading up to the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field on July 16 on FOX.

The three candidates for the Twins are Josemy Morales Marcano of Maplewood, Kymberly Koenig of St. Paul and Patrick Nelson of Eden Prairie.

"We're going to honor the candidates here at Target Field at end of the month on the 30th," said Bryan Donaldson, the Twins' senior director of community affairs. "Our winner will get to the raise the American Flag like a veteran does every game. We'll have also the second-place finishers here, too. But the winner also goes to the All-Star Game, which will be a fun thing."
