Nunez does agility drills, remains out of lineup

BOSTON -- Twins utility man Eduardo Nunez, who strained his right hamstring Saturday, was held out of the lineup for a second straight day Monday, but was able to get through agility drills before the game.

Nunez was ruled out for Monday's game, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was encouraged that Nunez was able to participate in an early workout with strength and conditioning coordinator Perry Castellanos. There's no timetable for his return, though the Twins remain hopeful he'll be able to avoid the 15-day disabled list.

"He's OK," Gardenhire said. "He did his thing. The trainers told me everything went good. Perry ran him through all his drills. He's day to day. Not sure how many days, but day to day."

With Nunez unavailable, Eduardo Escobar started at third base with Danny Santana getting the nod at shortstop.
