Two Asencio homers power San Antonio to win

Right fielder Yeison Asencio drove in three runs with two home runs and catcher Griff Erickson added a two-run homer Saturday night to lead Double-A San Antonio to a 10-4 Texas League win at Midland.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the 15-20 Missions.

Asencio, 25, who has a .281 batting average, was 3-for-5 with a double in addition to his second and third homers of the season. Erickson, 27, a graduate of Westview High in Santee, was 2-for-5 to raise his batting average to .291.

Third baseman Casey McElroy (.295) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a RBI. Designated hitter Tyler Gillies (.326) was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. First baseman Luis Domoromo was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Right-handed starter Zack Segovia (2-0, 6.10 ERA) allowed four runs on four hits and three walks with seven strikeouts in five innings to get the win. Right-handed reliever Casey Kelly (4.15 ERA) allowed two hits while striking out two in two scoreless innings.

AROUND THE FARM:

Triple-A El Paso (19-17): Fresno 5, Chihuahuas 2 -- 3B Brett Wallace (.301) hit a solo homer in four at-bats and C Rocky Gale (.333) was 2-for-4 with a run scored as El Paso lost a fifth straight game on three unearned runs scored after left-handed reliever Chris Rearick's throwing error. Starting RHP Chris Smith (4.59 ERA) allowed one run on seven hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. RHP Nick Vincent (0.69 ERA) allowed two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. Rearick (9.95 ERA) allowed a hit and an unearned run in one-third of an inning, although his error led to Fresno's decisive three-run seventh. RHP Leonel Campos (1.83 ERA) allowed a run on a hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings.

Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore (16-19): Rancho Cucamonga 6, Storm 6 -- 2B Fernando Perez (.264) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his sixth homer of the season. SS Jose Rondon (.282) also hit a two-run homer. RF Donavan Tate (.229) hit a two-run triple in his first at-bat but had to leave the game for a pinch-runner. Starting RHP Rafael De Paula (4.50 ERA) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings. RHP Luis Hernandez (1-3, 3.50 ERA) allowed three runs (two earned on his error) on three hits with two strikeouts in an inning. LHP Chris Nunn (1.42 ERA) allowed an unearned run on two hits and a two strikeouts in an inning.

Class A Fort Wayne (11-22): TinCaps 6, Bowling Green 2 -- Starting LHP Thomas Dorminy (3-3, 5.05 ERA), the Padres' 10th-round pick in last June's Draft, allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win as Fort Wayne snapped a five-game losing streak. RHP Wilson Santos (3.72 ERA) struck out two in 1 1/3 innings of perfect relief. LF Henry Charles (.264) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. C Miguel Del Castillo (.233) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. RF Nick Torres (.336) was 1-for-4 with two runs scored.
