Goeddel smashes three solo shots for Biscuits

Rays No. 25 prospect records his second career multi-homer game in Double-A Montgomery's win

Tyler Goeddel had his second career multi-homer game by the sixth inning of Double-A Montgomery's 4-3 win over Tennessee on Thursday, but he wasn't done.

The Rays' No. 25 prospect on the newly updated Top 30 list smacked his third home run of the night in the eighth inning, giving the Biscuits a one-run lead they would not relinquish. He finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Goeddel only had four homers in 86 games entering the game, and 23 in four-plus seasons, but his jacks tend to come in flurries.

He hit two homers in his eighth career game -- for Class A Bowling Green in 2012 -- and had hit homers in back-to-back games four times in his pro career, but never three in the same contest. Before Thursday, Goeddel hadn't gone yard this year since a solo shot on July 3.

The No. 41 overall pick in 2011 is now hitting .255 with 49 RBIs this season.
