Ventura unsure what Trade Deadline will bring

MINNEAPOLIS -- The non-waiver Trade Deadline is just six days away, but according to White Sox manager Robin Ventura, it's actually still too early to get a gauge on what moves the team might have in store.

"When you have a lot of people in the same boat there can be a lot of talk," Ventura said, referring to the fact that 11 of the 15 American League teams are still within five games of a postseason berth. "As [the Trade Deadline] gets closer and people have needs, conversations become different. As we're sitting here on the 25th, it's going to be a lot different than when we're sitting here on the 29th and 30th."

And while he admitted he doesn't expect any major changes, a recent run of strong starting pitching pulled the White Sox to within five games of the second Wild Card spot entering Friday's action. Thus, a team that looked like sure sellers a month ago might find itself in the position to make a run.

"If you get some outings like [Hector] Noesi had yesterday and you throw in Johnny [John Danks], [Chris] Sale and Q [Jose Quintana], you have a chance to do that," Ventura said of his starting rotation. "I think any time you have a staff like that, you're going to be in some games and you can [make a run]. We are a little short now in the bullpen, but anything's possible. You've got to be able to pitch to stay in games, and we've got some guys who can do that."
