Victorino to be evaluated at end of weekend

HOUSTON -- The Red Sox are waiting to see how rehabbing outfielder Shane Victorino feels at the end of the weekend.

Victorino logged his first rehab game on Thursday, going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts for Class A short-season Lowell. He batted leadoff and played five innings in right field.

Manager John Farrell said Victorino, recovering from hamstring and back injuries, was scheduled for three at-bats Friday. After Victorino plays Saturday and Sunday, the team will determine what to do next.

"Sunday we'll determine [the next step] based on how he responds physically to the work," Farrell said.
