Webb to throw out Opening Day first pitch

PHOENIX -- From 2006-09, Brandon Webb was the Opening Day starter for the D-backs.

This year, Webb will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for Monday night's opener against the Cardinals at Chase Field.

Webb won the 2006 National League Cy Young Award and was a three-time All-Star for the D-backs from '03-09.

In his final big league appearance, Webb was forced to leave his 2009 Opening Day start with shoulder soreness. The injury eventually required a pair of surgeries and despite numerous comeback attempts, and Webb never made it back.

Just before Spring Training this year, Webb announced his retirement.

D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill will also be presented with his 2012 Silver Slugger Award.

Limited tickets remain for the opener.
